unsolicited thoughts on prometheus:

last prometheus post for the day-generally, i thought it was really entertaining. you know what you are going to get from a ridley scott film, and once again, it delivers on both a technical & substantive level-a good blend of creepiness with set pieces that leave you awed. i love that it delves back into that philosophical territory that parallels nicely with blade runner, and i think it meshes well with an overall dark tone & bleak story line.

if i have just one gripe, it’s this:

scares here don’t have to be the result of critically thinking characters suffering temporary amnesia. no spoilers here, but one scene in general totally belies what the characters have established in prior behavior, just to lead up to a shock-it underestimates the intelligence of the viewer and your characters.

it’s a scary movie-i get it, and i know the old horror movie trope of people making bad choices leading to good scares. but this isn’t camp crystal lake-you are on a planet somewhere in the universe, and your prior judgement and behavior is established & got you where you are, you don’t need to suffer illogical judgement lapses to become a cadaver.

either way, i look forward to the inevitable continuation of the origin story and the eventual AvP buddy comedy coming to theatres in 2013.

whys it is this was all i could think of when watching prometheus?
internet, you’ve ruined me.
